What is Pilates?

The Pilates technique is a total body conditioning program designed to develop and maintain a healthy supple body.  A strength and flexibility workout, this program was developed by German immigrant Joseph Pilates (1880-1967) and emphasizes the use of the mind to perfect form and function.  The focus on strengthening the core muscles of the body results in improved balance and freedom of movement and alleviates pain.

The exercises are best practiced in personal training sessions with a qualified instructor.  Using our superior equipment, your instructor will guide you through a workout tailored to the specific needs for your body.

What are the Benefits?

Pilates exercises are renown for increasing strength and flexibility throughout the body.  Most people realize the benefits of overall toning, improved posture, tight abdominals, greater strength and flexibility.  Many clients have also found that the exercises help relieve stress and tension, reduce chronic headaches, and alleviate back pain among many other things.
